Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is in the district. The congressional seat is currently held by Darrell Issa, who will not be running for re-election in 2018. “No matter what, there will be new leadership in a district held by Darrell Issa since 2001,” said Greg Dawson, NBC 7 Vice President of News. “It has become one of the key swing districts in the country. So there is widespread interest in the outcome of this race, well outside the district.” “We are honored to collaborate with NBC.com for this critical candidate forum. It’s important students are educated on the candidates and issues since we are part of the largest generation in history and play a major role in the success of our futures. MiraCosta College is excited to be a part of the process through the rollout of the 'Have a Voice, Make a Choice campaign," explains Marc Mendoza, president of MiraCosta College Associated Student Government. In March 2018, MiraCosta College partnered with California's Secretary of State and made a commitment to increase voter engagement, democratic participation, and civic literacy among the student body.
