MiraCosta College Offers Community Education Enrichment Courses in Hobbies and Skills MiraCosta College Community Education is offering the following hobbies and skills, not-for-credit, courses this fall: Beginning Ukulele Do you have a ukulele sitting in your house waiting to be played? Wouldn’t you like to pick up a ukulele, jam on the beach with friends, and show off what you have learned from this class? This ukulele class is open to beginners and all those who would like to continue to play the ukulele but are not quite on the intermediate level yet. Fee: $79. Supplies: A $10 materials fee will be collected in class. Please bring your own ukulele, tuner, 3-ring binder, notebook and pencil with eraser to class. Location: San Elijo Campus, Room 201. Time: 8 Tuesdays, 9/4–10/23, 6:30–8 PM. Beginning Ballroom and Beyond “Such a fun class, learned a lot!” - Joaxin P. (Spring 2017) No partner necessary. Do you want to take your dancing to the next level? This is a great class to brush up or to learn new dances. This session, we are exploring the conversational foxtrot and the elegant waltz. We will cover social dancing and how to take the material we learn in class to an actual real-life dance situation. Fee: $89. Early Bird Special $79. (Register BEFORE 8/31 for this rate.) All levels are welcome. Bring up the heat with the popular salsa and bachata. Learn the fundamentals of fitting, style, re-style and repairs. Please bring one or more garments to class, which will be fitted by the instructor. I feel like I'm getting Ivy League teaching.” - Edward E. (Spring 2018) All experience levels welcome. Whether you are an absolute beginner or seasoned artist, this class will teach you secret tips and techniques to draw portraits that sell. Have fun learning basic portrait anatomy and expressions, how to photograph your model, and the business of portrait selling from a pro who has painted over 3,000 portraits. You will be drawing at every class session! Fee: $115. Early Bird Special $105. (Register BEFORE 9/1 for this rate.) Supplies: A $3 materials fee will be collected in class for handouts. In this fun and relaxed class, we will create a mini-tray, keepsake box, picture frame and large tray suitable for home use or gifts. Use found objects, glass, ceramic pieces or tiles to express your creativity. Whether you are new to this art form or simply want to share studio time with others, all are welcome! Fee: $129. Early Bird Special $119. (Register BEFORE 9/7 for this rate.) Supplies: A $50 materials fee will be collected in class.
