Local Realtor Raising Funds for Oceanside’s Kids Partners include Oceanside Junior Lifeguard Boosters, Oceanside Firefighters Association, Oceanside Aquatics Association and the Oceanside Museum of Art Oceanside 2/27/2016: Three years ago, Brian Long—local Oceanside Realtor and founder of the 2.4-mile TikiSwim—was approached by Oceanside beach lifeguard Lt. Emile Lagendijk and Oceanside Firefighter Hayden Harshman about helping start a free swim lesson program for Oceanside’s kids. They saw this as not only a chance to teach a lifesaving skill, but to also open the door to a healthy, outdoor-based lifestyle. Now in its second year, Brian’s Pool Party is a community party and silent auction fundraiser supported by many amazing companies and three Oceanside non-profits. The majority of the companies providing donations are “lifestyle” companies or run by those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. Their primary motivator to donate is to expose Oceanside’s kids to a lifestyle, they know so well. For $15 dollars ($10 dollars for kids under 10), guests are welcomed to the famous All-You-Can-Eat street taco bar and a complimentary craft draft beer, glass of wine, or other beverage of choice. There will also be a donation-based bar for those over 21 years of age. Added this year will be live music from the awesome Millionaire Beach Bums band. This group of young boys rock 60’s and 70’s surf and rockabilly music with some originals added to the mix. The 2016 goal is to raise over $10,000, which will put over 65 kids through the swim lessons (which they can do more than once to build their skill level). Additionally, money will be used to help send some kids through the Oceanside Junior Lifeguard program, provide swim suits and goggles to every child in the program and for a free community recreation swim and pizza night. Brian’s Pool Party is taking place Friday April 8th, 2016, at the Oceanside Museum of Art. More information and pre-sale tickets are at www.brianspoolparty.com. There also is more information and updates on our Facebook Page at: “Brian's ‘pool party’ and JG Fundraiser.” If you can not attend the event, we are accepting donations on the website. If you or your company would like to donate towards our silent auction table, please call Brian Long @ 760-415-3329.
