The Brooks Theatre and Studio 219 presents Boeing Boeing

Oceanside Theatre Company, operating The Brooks Theatre and Studio 219, presents Boeing Boeing (written by Marc Camoletti) live on stage at The Brooks October 16 to November 1. The theater is located at 217 North Coast Hwy in Oceanside. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm

Boeing Boeing is a comedy written by Marc Camoletti and translated from French by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans. It is a winner of 2008 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. Set in Paris in the 1960’s, this farce adapted for the English-speaking stage features self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, who has Italian, German, and American fiancees, each beautiful airline hostesses with frequent "layovers". He keeps "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris and Bernard's apartment at the same time.

Starring in the play are Kelly Derouin as Gabriella, Virginia “Ginny” Gregg as Gloria, Dave Gutierrez as Robert, Eric Hellmers as Bernard, Katie Rogers Heniser as Berthe, and Janey Myshel as Gretchen.

Ted Leib, the play’s director, set designer, and sound designer, has previously directed for Stages Theatre, Hunger Artists, Vanguard Theatre, and the Orange County Pavilion, all in Orange County, as well as did some directing for film. For Oceanside Theatre Company he directed last season’s The Musical of Musicals: The Musical and appeared in Lost In Yonkers and The Boys Next Door. He has taught at Cal State Fullerton, Saddleback College, SDSU and the Orange County School of the Arts and holds a Masters degree in Film, Television and New Media from SDSU.

Leib stated the following about this production.. "The early 1960s – when Boeing Boeing is set – marked the beginning of a transitory decade. Feminism (or “Women’s Lib) was in its infancy, the “sexual revolution” was just getting off the ground, and the cultural upheaval of Vietnam, Haight-Ashbury, and the Summer of Love that would indelibly stamp the decade were not yet in the mainstream conscience. It is on the brink of this seismic cultural shift that Marc Camoletti’s classic farce unfolds. At first glance, Boeing, Boeing may seem a snapshot of a bygone time, with its seemingly chauvinistic views of women and relationships. But Camoletti writes with a sly awareness of the times. The men aren’t unmalleable; the women aren’t submissive. Beneath the rapid-fire comedy, Boeing Boeing is in the end a surprising – and surprisingly strong - endorsement of feminism.”
