The quintessential dive bar known as "Fire Water" to the locals who live in the area is a pretty descent dive bar. Oceanside or as I start to say "O'Side", this is one of those places where everyone ends up at eventually.
F.W. has that laid back types of atmosphere to it where all can come in and chill. The crafts are always cold as they are in constant rotation with a descent liquor selection to choose from. That is if you are not into the craft scene, one can enjoy a mixed concoction or two. F.W. also has their bartenders who are pretty much on point when it comes to service, they keep that party going with out missing a beat.
F.W. also has a pair of pool tables in the back if anyone wants to rack them, myself I am not a pool person. If I play I just hit the cue and look for the ricochet into the pocket types of players. So if anyone needs a partner I'm in! They (F.W.) also have a dance floor where you can sing karaoke or to just bust a move with a dj doing his thing on most nights. Plus this makes for a great spot to just people watch,as you look at some of their antics. It can be quite comical.
In all Fire Water is an ok dive bar to just break away and enjoy yourself .Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Keysha M.Carlsbad, CA169122886Dec 17, 2016
Let's talk before and after the new owners
Before... this place was a grubby hole in the wall where you could go to get a stiff drink and play some pool. This was on my bar crawl list as it's convenient to a few other places in the area but wasn't a must go to stop. Plus is smelled kind of like urine
After... you can still get a stiff drink and play some pool here but this place is no longer a grubby hole in the wall. I come here enough to have a clear view of the great changes that are happening at Fire Water. I think they're managing to keep this a comfortable "regulars" friendly place and at the same time creating a buzz that has new comers checking them out and coming back.
There's a good flow to the crew that work the place, keeping people moving and glasses cleared away. The bartender's work their butts off; never let DEWEY go...he's amazing. Security is on point and quick to respond if needed. Fun music and drinks...not much more I can ask for.
They're doing a great job turning this place around.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 2016
So much fun. They have music a a great staff. Fun locals spot. Ask about beer of the week. We stumbled on PBR for two bucks. Then they wanted to get rid of the rest of the keg so they lowered it to a buck! They put the game on for us and we had s great time. Its divey. It's fun.

Glad to hear this shithole closed down. Karma is a b****. Bunch of cokeheads worked here. Was a horrible place to hang out. Awful service. Seeing it closed down just made my day!

Wandered in for a drink or two and ended up staying the whole day! Russel was the bartender and he was so amazing! He was fun to talk with and great at his job! He is the reason we ended up staying so long and why will go back. The drinks were tasty, the music was good, and the people were friendly. I'm glad we came across this place Snd can't wait to go back. I love dive bars!

Fire Water Saloon is as divey as it can get. Which can be good and bad but for this particular bar it is "Eh".
For a Saturday night around 7:30PM we walked in with a group, pretty substantial low for a Saturday. The bar itself had plenty of seats and can make a solid AMF for around $9. Not bad, didn't skimp on the alcohol content but not keeping it over the top and sacrifices the taste of the mix.
Immediately at 8PM it went from three or four guys playing pool behind us to a literally standing room that had people hovering over us at the far end of the bar! The bartenders and security were nice, the security guard actually helping bartend. Otherwise it's a decent place, the location is convenient and attracts a high military crowd. We didn't stay for long though, there's certainly room for improvement though.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Cynthia P.Vista, CA7063381285Feb 15, 2016
Great dive bar in Oceanside and our bartender Zak was amazing. Very cool vibe. Clean restrooms. Inexpensive drinks and they have a bouncer so maybe they have issues but not during the day when we were here.

For what it is I can't ever give it more than 3 stars but the bartenders and experience I've had here have all been positive, but it's the history and face of the bar that brings it down tremendously.
They host karaoke night here as well as live bands/dj on the weekends and certain weekdays. Full bar with 2 pool tables and a jukebox. This place gets pretty busy every weekend and you can bet ya you'll run into someone you know here!
Overall, it's a hole in a whole that the locals love. It gets rowdy on the weekends but the experience is there for sure.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joshua B.San Diego, CA03351Sep 25, 2017
Loved the drinks. Great music. My friends and I had a great time, which is good, because it's sometimes hard finding a good meeting place near the pier.
The bartender, who I think was also the owner, was a nice and funny lady.
If I'm going to be meeting friends for drinks in O'side again, this is where we'll go.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
