Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® Hosts Panel Talk on Eating Disorders & Open House on Oct. 26th Carlsbad, CA. September 12, 2011 – The Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® (CVDF) is holding an Open House to introduce community members to its James G. Murray Access to Care program, which provides free educational information and resources on prevention and wellness. Stop in and get your Blood Pressure and Body Fat checked. Enjoy healthy hors d’oeuvres, mulled cider, collect information on healthy living and pick up a free reusable CVDF Tote Bag. Learn more about the Foundation’s free services, such as its Lectures, Screenings, Healthy Habits, Healthy Kidssm program, and its Meetup running and walking groups. No appointment is needed, just drop in between 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. At 5 p.m., immediately following the Open House, CVDF will host a panel discussion on Eating Disorders (ED). Pediatrician Dr. Christine Wood will discuss Eating Disorders: Inside & Out. Dr. Wood has a special focus on preventive nutrition for children, the childhood obesity issue and pediatric environmental health. Registered Dietitian Megan Handley will speak about considerations and treatment strategies with eating disorders. Megan is an experienced specialist in various levels of care of ED treatment, including residential, day treatment, and intensive outpatient care. An interactive question and answer period will follow. Seating is limited. Anyone wishing to attend the panel discussion should RSVP to Nancy at 760-730-1471 or Nancy@cvdf.org. The Open House and talk are open to the public and free of charge. The Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® (www.CVDF.org) of San Diego County is a nine-year-old non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Carlsbad, CA. Its mission is to improve the quality of life by promoting cardiovascular health through prevention, wellness, and education. The Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® office is located at 3088 Pio Pico Dr. Suite 202, Carlsbad, CA 92008. There is ample free street parking.
