Event Description: Looking beyond the physical surface, Vicki Walsh captures the depth of a person’s soul in her hyper-realistic portraits. Touching the Surface features large scale portraits of important people who have touched her life. By breaking down the face and amplifying minute details found on the skin’s surface, Walsh makes room for the viewer to contemplate what lies underneath. Meet the Artist on August 13 at 2:00 p.m. and hear Walsh discuss her Renaissance glazing technique and the meaning behind her imagery. The talk is free with museum admission and complimentary for OMA members, students and military. Touching the Surface: Vicki Walsh will be on view in the OMA Groves Auditorium Gallery August 6 – October 23, 2011.
