Event Description: Oceanside’s 8th Annual Music Festival presents High School Showcase Sponsored by Oceanside Arts Commission at on Thursday, Oct 22, 7:00 pm, Truax Theatre, El Camino High School, 400 Rancho del Oro, Oceanside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As in previous years, one of the highlights of OMFest will be the High School Showcase. This is the reason for OMFest to raise awareness and funding for these great vocal music programs. OMFest ‘09 has, again, the mission to provide the opportunity for these high school vocal groups to raise funds for their programs. They do this through ticket sales for this performance. This is a chance for the audience to see the best of the best! Award-winning musical theatre and choral groups North County schools will strut their stuff. Plan to come out and support our young musicians! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scheduled performances include special appearances from Martin Luther King Middle School vocalists, award winning choral groups from El Camino High, Oceanside High School (with Girls Glee Choir, Sound Waves Show Choir, and Honor Choir) and selections from the award-winning El Camino High’s theatrical production of "The Wiz". El Camino High School Drama Students and cast members of "The Wiz" will perform selections from last year's spring musical which was honored with 5 National Youth Theatre Awards. Under the vocal direction of Debbie Nicastro and accompanied on piano by Kari Berhardt, this cast 'eased on down the road' with the following awards; For Best Actress in a Musical: Kim Moore. Best Supporting Actor in a Musical: Preston Butler. Best Ensemble: The "Wiz" Cast. Best Costume Design: Renetta Lloyd and Janie Newsom. Best Direction: Sharon Strong.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Concert Admission: $15 adults, $10 children, $12 students, military, seniors, $25 family.
