Event Description:
Vigilucci’s Jazz at the Museum presents leading San Diego based jazz trumpeter, Gilbert Castellanos and the New Latin Jazz Quartet on Thursday, October 22nd from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Oceanside Museum of Art. Castellanos mixes the sound of vintage Blue Note era hard bop with a Latin flare. He is a band leader and member of two top jazz ensembles in Southern California: Anthony Wilson's Nonet, and one of today's most critically acclaimed big bands, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. You can hear the echoes of past trumpet masters such as Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown, and Freddie Hubbard in Castellanos’ soaring improvisations. The evening will begin with Vigilucci’s scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and signature wine at 7:00 p.m. Vigilucci’s Restaurant Group has joined with the museum to present an evening of great jazz, great art, and great tastes. Admission is $15 or $10 for members of Oceanside Museum of Art. Admission is at the door. Open seating is on a “first-come” basis. There are no reservations. In addition to the concert, guests will have the opportunity to view the exhibitions, An American Dream: Gregg Jabs, Fabric of Survival: The Art of Esther Nisenthal Krinitz, and Café Con Muertos: Daniel F. Martinez.
