Event Description:
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AUGUST 4, 2015 “America’s Night against Crime, Alcohol & other Drugs” Your neighborhood is invited to participate with many other neighborhoods across the country in celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015. National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, and co-sponsored locally by the Oceanside Police Department. This year is the 32nd anniversary of National Night Out with over 38 million people across the country expected to participate. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 4, 2015, residents in neighborhoods throughout Oceanside and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from movies, resource tables/booths, face painting, music and food for sale. It is an opportunity to be creative, have fun and celebrate your neighborhood! Oceanside free events include: • Music, resource booths, face painting and family movie at Joe Balderrama Park (709 San Diego Street) on August 4 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. • Family activities, prizes, free food and movie screening at Crown Heights Resource Center (1210 Division Street) on August 4 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. • Games, prizes, face painting, food vendors and family movie at Libby Lake Park (424 Calle Montecito) on August 4 from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. • Free family movie and food at Melba Bishop Recreational Center (5306 N.
