Event Description:
Outside the Wire, a social impact troupe, will present a performance of Sophocles’ Ajax, an ancient Greek tragedy about the suicide of a respected warrior, as part of its Theater of War: Soldiers & Citizens Tour. The performance will be held Tuesday, May 5, 7 p.m. in Room 3601 at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive in Oceanside. In The Theater of War: Soldiers & Citizens Tour, Outside The Wire presents dramatic readings to diverse military and civilian audiences in order to engage communities in discussions about the visible and invisible wounds of war. The presentations are intended to foster understanding and compassion, while mobilizing citizens and resources to help improve the lives of service members, veterans, their families, and people in their communities. The reading will feature: Brian O’Byrne (Million Dollar Baby, The International, Brooklyn’s Finest) and April Grace (I am legend, Magnolia, Fame.) The performance will be followed by a discussion with panelists from local civilian and military communities, and a facilitated town-hall style audience discussion. Admission is free, but seating is limited. For reservations, go to www.TOWCAL.eventbrite.com.
