Event Description: Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) proudly announces the first of five public artist in residency programs to take place in North County San Diego over the next two years as part of the Exploring Engagement initiative funded by the James Irvine Foundation. Armando de la Torre's “Winter Wonderland” art installation and interactive residency project, in store A12 on the first floor of the Westfield Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center this holiday season, will bring art experiences and art making to thousands of local residents. Join us for the free Opening Reception, December 13, 6-8 pm, at store A12 at Westfield Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center, 2525 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA. Within the month long artist residency project, open every day from 10 am to 3 pm from Black Friday 11/29/13 through Christmas Eve 12/24/13, there will be a series of free workshops, performances, pop up shops and artist interactions. In addition to Armando de la Torre, a variety of local musicians, painters and performance artists will host these art activities. Workshops will include puppet making, gift making, wrapping paper design, silk-screening, drawing and painting.
