Event Description:
Oceanside Museum of Art and San Diego History Center (SDHC) have collaborated with local art scholars to produce a joint exhibition that offers visitors a unique and diverse perspective from which to view our region’s landscape. Nature Improved: San Diego Artists Interpret Our Landscape, will open at SDHC on September 19 and at OMA on October 26 and will continue through January 26, 2014 at SDHC and February 23, 2014 at OMA. The dual exhibition—the first such collaboration between SDHC and OMA—is a juried invitational with submissions from local artists. The exhibition will present approximately 26 regional artists and comprise of 90 artworks between the two institutions. San Diego History Center Members Opening Curator’s Panel Discussion - Join us for Curator’s Panel Discussion, November 5, 7-8:30 pm. And hear from curators and scholars about how artists in the OMA/SDHC exhibition, Nature Improved, are interpreting our natural landscape. This discussion, moderated by Daniel Foster, OMA Executive Director, will include Bram Dijkstra, Art Historian, Professor-Emeritus UCSD;Derrick Cartwright, Director of University Galleries, University of San Diego; Alessandra Moctezuma, Gallery Director /Professor of Fine Art, San Diego Mesa College; and Charlotte Cagan,Executive Director, San Diego History Center. Free for OMA and SDHC members and $10 for nonmembers.
