Immerse yourself in the art and culture of the Steampunk movement where Victorian fashion, science fiction, fantasy, retro-futuristic technology and clockwork wonders collide in an amazing circus of inspiring artistic innovation. Guests will enjoy the gypsy cabaret music of Mad Marionettes sponsored by Dr. Watson’s Steampunk Odditorium and the sounds of DJ Greyshade sponsored by Chrononaut Club, while enjoying performances by Elle Sonnet on bo staff and April Marie Eden of FanGirl Academy, fire and sword dancing by Amelia, and Oceanside Theater Company vignettes. The museum terrace will feature a time machine sculpture by Adam Murillo and a montage of Steampunk projections by JRS Productions with fantastic décor by Lucky Street Productions throughout the event. Create your own Steampunk inspired sculptures in the interactive art lab with New Village Arts Foundry, enjoy couture & curiosities by Dr. Watson’s Steampunk Odditorium, and lounge in the intriguing furniture parlour of Homebird Upholstery. Jump into vintage futurism to get a photo in Scott Saw’s ‘Pop-Up’ Studio and watch the creation of live art by Sean Dietrich and Victoria Bearden. Experience a unique and alternative world of wonder at Dr. Steampunk’s Art Extravaganza! In conjunction with Art After Dark, OMA will present a special Steampunk art exhibition in the Parker Gallery, Dr. Steampunk’s Cabinet of Curiosities, on view from May 7-10. Artwork will explore the Steampunk subculture through a display of inventive sculptures and digital images. Featured artists include Dan Jones, Winnona Cookie (Ramona Szczerba), Brian Giberson, Tungstenwolf (Andrew Connolly), Denise Sarram, and Tyler Legere. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to view three additional current art exhibitions: In Search of Shadows: James Hubbell Sculpture, Herb Turner: Realist/Idealist, and Volcanos and Full Moons: Ernest Silva. Admission is $10 for OMA Members or $20 for Nonmembers. This price includes art and entertainment, complimentary appetizers by Bull Taco and Breakfast Club Diner California, desserts by Lil’ Miss Short Cakes and 1 drink ticket, with additional tickets available for purchase.
