Event Description:
COUNTDOWN TO THE END OF THE TAX YEAR! San Diego, CA. Only thirteen days left to contribute to local non-profits and take advantage of IRS charitable contributions for 2012. Mrs. Beth Forsberg, Goodwill’s VP of Operations, wants to remind everyone that “On New Year’s Eve, which falls on a Monday this year, we’ve got a line of cars at every donation center from the time we open at 8:30am until last call at 5:00pm. Don’t wait until the last minute, unless you enjoy waiting in line! We encourage everyone to think ahead, maybe drop things off this week, or over the weekend. Goodwill is open 7 days (except Christmas Day) - it will save you time and stress.”. Mike Rowan, CEO of Goodwill Industries of San Diego County added “New Year’s Eve is our busiest day of the year”. Toni Giffin, VP of Human Resources and Support Services said “Your donated items become the fuel that supports our purpose of “Getting People Jobs. From the time you donate, through the sorting, sale or recycling process you are creating employment, job training, and a future for your neighbors. We have over 1,000 employees in San Diego County, your neighbors and friends. Be an inspiration to those around you, and donate today.” TWELVE REASONS TO DONATE TO GOODWILL! 1. It’s a very green thing to do, reduce, reuse, recycle (you know the drill). 2. You may be able to deduct the fair market value of your contributions at tax time. 3. Almost everyone has something they can donate to the cause - It’s easier than donating cash ($$) and it makes you feel good! 4. You don’t have to drive very far (Goodwill has over 40 donation centers & stores). 5. You can ride the trolley to donate (Amaya, Spring Street, 70th St, Main & Marshall). 6. You can drive through a Park & Ride and donate (La Costa, College, Oceanside, Bonita, Sorrento Valley, Carmel Valley, Penasquitos and Mira Mesa! 7. You can donate and shop in Oceanside, Tri City, Vista, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa, Clairemont, Santee, La Mesa, Rancho San Diego, Ramona, City Heights, East Village, Pacific Beach, Pt. Loma, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach! 8. Open 7 days for your convenience (except Christmas). 9. We take your computers and TVs FREE every day at 6 locations (Santee, Pt. Loma, Vista, La Costa, Mira Mesa and Otay Mesa). 10. You can see your donation in action (think “jobs”)! 11. Your purchases of donated goods is how we pay for everything- and you can also shop from home on the internet www.sdgoodwill.org/shopping.html 12. Help Goodwill meet its 2013 goal of helping another 3,500 San Diegans get jobs before the end of 2013! For more information see https://www.sdgoodwill.org
