Event Description: Oceanside Museum of Art is pleased to present its newest innovative night event, Artists @ Work. On the second Thursday of each month OMA will showcase a different artist or artist collaborative by commissioning them to produce an original artwork live in front of guests during the newly-extended hours of 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a rare opportunity for members and visitors to closely engage with artists and get a first-hand look at the creative process. Each artist will discuss his/her process and techniques, followed by a question and answer session to close the evening. While watching artworks come to life, guests will delight in delicious appetizers sponsored by Harney Sushi and an open beer and wine bar. Tickets can be purchased by calling (760) 435-3721. Don’t miss the Artists @ Work Launch Party on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. presenting live artist Ian Ross, an abstract painter and official Facebook artist who has created over 40 murals around the United States including a 65 foot mural for The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. Ross completed his BFA in Fine Art and Ceramics in 2003 at Cal State Long Beach. Ross travels throughout California and the United States creating murals and doing live painting where he encourages each of his works of art to grow into their own unique and separate reality.
