MiraCosta College Offers Community Education Courses in Career and Workskills MiraCosta College Community Education is offering the following career and workskills, not-for-credit, courses this summer: AutoCAD for Manufacturing Using Autodesk Inventor. In this 15-hour introductory course, students will be introduced to Autodesk Inventor, a 3D mechanical design software. This program allows students to move from 2D to 3D images. Students will also learn how to transform their CAD drawing to a usable CAM image. Admin Fee: $50. Location: Technology Career Institute. 5 Tuesdays, 7/10–8/7, 6–9 PM. Would you like to know more about how to edit and improve your photos using Adobe Photoshop, the industry standard for photoediting? Then this short two-day hands-on workshop is for you! Photoshop can be used for relatively simple photoediting tasks, but Photoshop can do SO much more! This class provides an introduction to the wealth of Photoshop's capabilities. The class begins with an overview of the Photoshop workspace including a discussion of the key photoediting tools. The course content then expands to include more advanced topics, such as combining images and using filters and adjustments for interesting effects, and working with layers and brushes to create unique artistic works. Note: Students should have basic computer and mouse skills. Bring sack lunch. Fee: $95. Early Bird Special $79 (Register BEFORE 7/7 for this rate). Learn through easy-to-understand instructions focusing on how to create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks that will give you a solid understanding of the basic functionality of Excel when completing tasks. Learn how to make spreadsheets more professional, write basic mathematical formulas, sort and analyze data, create charts and graphs and much more! Students should know how to use the keyboard and mouse and how to open and save a file. For those students not using Excel on a regular basis, we encourage you to first take the MS Office Suite Workshop. Fee: $85. Early Bird Special $75 (Register BEFORE 7/7 for this rate). A trustee has an important job with serious legal consequences. Step-by-step instructions will be provided for the post-death administration of an estate. You will learn ways to minimize the stress on yourself and your family. This class will even help someone who is planning their estate, because knowing what actually happens after death helps you adequately prepare. Gain insights, methods and techniques from a friendly, approachable and experienced attorney and educator. Bob Ayers has been a local attorney for over 25 years with an emphasis in real estate, business, and estate planning and administration. Fee: $39. Lean manufacturing is a systematic method for eliminating waste and this course provides hands-on, practical application of A3 problem solving, value stream mapping, kaizen group improvement, 5S organization, and standard work instructions that anyone can use in any business. Additional LEAN concepts you will learn: 8 wastes, 5 why's, error proofing, Takt time, balancing work and visual management. Fee: $150. Location: Technology Career Institute.
