MiraCosta College Offers Community Education Enrichment Courses In Hobbies and Skills MiraCosta College Community Education is offering the following hobbies and skills, not-for-credit, courses this summer: NEW Summer Vegetable Gardening. It's not too late to plant your warm season vegetables! With longer days and warmer temperatures, now is the perfect time to plant your favorite summer crops including tomatoes, peppers, corn and squash. Find out how! A fun, interactive class with hands-on activities including planting your own starter plants to take home. Fee: $50. Early Bird Special $45 (Register BEFORE 6/9 for this rate) Supplies: A $10 material fee will be collected in class for handouts and course materials. Location: Technology Career Institute, Room 100 Time: 1 Saturday, 6/16, 9–11 AM. Knitting Basics and Beyond. All levels are welcome. Learn the timeless art of knitting and unlock your creativity in this no stress class. Taught by a certified knitting instructor, each session will be divided into two parts. First, we will explore topics through lecture and hands-on practice. Then, knitters will have time to work on their own projects, consult with the instructor on specific issues and share in the relaxing experience of knitting as a part of a community. Fee: $110. Early Bird Special $99 (Register BEFORE 6/19 for this rate) Supplies: A $2 material fee will be collected in class for lesson handouts. A materials list will be sent prior to the start of class. Painting on the pages of a sketchbook is a low stress way to improve your painting skills and develop the habit of painting on a regular basis. In this class, you'll practice painting a variety of subjects in your sketchbook. You will learn about fixing mistakes, mixing color, drawing, composition, creative thinking, adding dimension with values and more. Fee: $89. Early Bird Special $79 (Register BEFORE 6/30) Supplies: A $5 material fee will be collected in class for handouts. A materials list will be sent prior to the start of class. Location: San Elijo Campus, Room 205. Time: 5 Saturdays, 7/14–8/18, 9 AM–12 PM. No class on 8/11.
