MiraCosta College Hosts California 76th Assembly District Candidate Forum MiraCosta College Associated Student Government in collaboration with Genentech and the Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Fallbrook, and Vista Chambers of Commerce is hosting a forum with those candidates running for California 76th Assembly District. Candidates will be allowed brief introductions, followed by a question and answer session. The audience will have an opportunity to submit questions in writing. The 76th Assembly District encompasses coastal North County, stretching from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in the North to Encinitas in the South. The District includes the cities of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, and Vista, as well as unincorporated areas of San Diego County. Eight candidates, Tasha Boerner Horvath, Phil Graham, Thomas Krouse, Maureen “Mo” Muir, Amanda Rigby, Jerome Stocks, Elizabeth Warren, and Brian Wimmer have confirmed attendance. The California 76th Assembly District office is currently held by Rocky Chavez, who will not be running for re-election in 2018. Upon the announcement of Congressman Darrell Issa not to seek re-election, Chavez declared his intention to run for U.S. Representative of California’s 49th congressional district. The forum will be held on Wednesday, May 2, from 7–9 p.m. at MiraCosta College, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, in the Student Center Cafeteria (Bldg. 3400). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for networking and an opportunity to meet the candidates. The candidates will discuss their positions on the issues and take written questions submitted by the audience. The event is free and open to the public.
