MiraCosta Symphony Orchestra—Inspired by America Please join the MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra for a celebration of music inspired by the great nation we call home. There will be two concerts, held on March 17 and 18, featuring the music of the great American composers George Gershwin, Aaron Copland and others. Cello soloist Paul Tseng will join the orchestra in two performances of Antonín Dvorák's mighty Cello Concerto in B minor Op. 104. This amazing work was inspired by Dvorák's short time in America at the American Conservatory in New York City. International competition-winning pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky will perform George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F major. In addition, the orchestra will present Aaron Copland's suite from the ballet Appalachian Spring, one of the masterworks of 20th century American music. Branden Muresan, conductor. The concerts will be held on the Oceanside Campus in the Concert Hall (OC2400) on Saturday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. Tickets for MiraCosta students, staff, and seniors are $8 and general admission is $10.
