MiraCosta College 5th Annual Soul Fusion Fundraiser to Benefit Umoja Program The MiraCosta College Umoja Program is kicking off its Black History Month activities with its 5th annual fundraising event, “Soul Fusion: Jazz and Jokes,” Saturday, February 3, 2018. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the show starts at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the MiraCosta College Concert Hall, Bldg. 2400, located on the Oceanside Campus at 1 Barnard Drive. Jazz and Jokes is a wonderful experience of live music and hilarious comedians coming together for an amazing show and a worthy cause. The event will feature music by Mark Aston & Friends and comedy by Doug Williams. The evening will be hosted by Daran Howard and also features Johnny Bratsveen. The Umoja Program is committed to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences and increasing the persistence and retention rates of African-American and other students. The money raised will be used to provide scholarships and financial assistance to Umoja students facing unforeseen financial obstacles that may disrupt their education. Student tickets are $10; general admission tickets are $20. Tickets are available for purchase at giving.miracosta.edu, and donations to the Umoja community are accepted as well.
