New Year, New Water Academy Classes Looking for a way to learn about the San Diego region’s most valuable natural resource and beef up your resumé? Join nearly 450 county residents who have graduated from the San Diego County Water Authority’s award-winning Citizens Water Academy by applying for the spring class series. Participants learn how the Water Authority helps protect the region’s $220 billion economy and quality of life for 3.3 million residents through its water supply diversification strategy. Water Authority executives discuss facility operations and maintenance, long-term planning, and water-use efficiency – and they lead a tour of world-class water facilities. The next three-class series for current and emerging community leaders starts March 1. Applications for the free program already are flooding in, and they will be accepted through February 12. A second academy for 2018 is planned for South County in the fall.
