Scripps Health Medical Groups Recognized for Excellence CAPG ranks Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal at Elite level for risk-based, coordinated care LA JOLLA, Calif. –Scripps Health’s affiliated medical groups have achieved Elite status in a nationwide survey of medical groups that were ranked based on performance in six areas of risk-based, coordinated patient care delivery. Elite status is the highest designation given by California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG), the nation’s leading organization representing managed care physician groups. Scripps Clinic Medical Group and Scripps Coastal Medical Group, which are part of Scripps Medical Foundation, achieved their ranking based on results in CAPG’s 2017 Standards of Excellence survey. The annual CPAG survey assesses delivery of accountable and value-based patient care, using six categories: care management practices, information technology, accountability and transparency, patient-centered care, group support of advanced primary care, and administrative and financial capability. Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center were among organizations that scored stars in all six categories, earning them Elite honors. This year, 140 medical groups, health systems and independent physician associations (IPAs), covering nearly 18 million patients participated in the voluntary survey. “We are committed to providing high quality, evidence-based, patient-centric health care and are honored to be recognized by CAPG with the Elite Status in their annual assessment of Standard of Excellence,” said Anthony Chong, M.D., chief medical officer for Scripps Coastal Medical Center. “We set high goals and work hard to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to patient care and are honored to be recognized for excellence in so many clinical quality areas,” said Dan Dworsky, M.D., vice president of quality and value for Scripps Clinic. CAPG announced the Elite designations at its recent annual conference in San Diego. CAPG, which has a national membership, is formally known as CAPG, the Voice of Accountable Physician Groups.
