Dear Friends, 1st Law Enforcement Battalion is pleased to be hosting our 1st Annual USMC Birthday Ball Golf Tournament at the Marine Memorial Golf Course aboard Camp Pendleton, CA. This will be our largest fundraiser for the USMC Birthday Ball and will feature a variety of donated items for our silent auction, a Longest Drive Contest, a demonstration during lunch from our Military Working Dog platoon, and numerous other interactions with the Marines from 1st LE Bn throughout the event. The Golf Tournament is scheduled to be held on July 28, 2017 with the goal that all Marines attending will have the cost of their ticket covered. 1st Law Enforcement Bn has a rich history dating back to our activation on 28 October 1944 at Pearl Harbor, territory of Hawaii as the 1st Provisional Military Police Battalion, FMFPAC and then was redesignated as Military Police Battalion on 9 December 1944. After participating in the WWII Campaign, Okinawa, and the Occupation of North China the Bn deactivated in 20 March 1946. On 1 December 1965 the Unit was reactivated aboard Camp Pendleton as 1st Military Police Bn and participated in the war in Vietnam, after which the Unit deactivated on 13 August 1971. On 1 June 2012 the Bn was once again reactivated this time as 1st Law Enforcement Battalion. The Bn currently supports numerous exercises and attaches onto the West Coast MEU’s and SPMAGTF’s along with supporting numerous other deployments. In order to accomplish our goal, we need to call upon corporations, local businesses, and community members to assist us with our fundraising efforts. We need you support in any of the following areas: event advertising, goodie bags for all attendees, donation of silent auction items (no limitations), or by donating a USMC Birthday Ball ticket to be given to a Marine. We also have opportunities for those to have their products available for Demo at the event and for restaurants to have samples available to taste during the event. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. The Point of Contact for this event is Beth Callahan at: Beth.Callahan@usmc.mil. We realize that many requests are made of you and we thank you for your time and consideration. It is your generosity that will enable us to continue our quest to make the USMC Birthday Ball affordable for all Marines of all ranks. We want to thanks you in advance and extend our sincere appreciation for your time, consideration, and support. V/R 1st Law Enforcement Battalion Ball Committee
