The MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents the funny, sad, whimsical and charming play, “Almost, Maine.” The plot gives us several conversations about love, all of which are taking place simultaneously in and around the community of Almost, Maine. The play was written by John Carlani, and opens April 28 at the MiraCosta College Theatre, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Eric Bishop will direct. On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised, hearts are broken. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend–almost–in this delightful midwinter night’s dream. “’Almost Maine’ is a magical and sometimes heartbreaking ride you can’t miss,” said Bishop. “Transport yourself to this fictitious town in the state of Maine in the dead of winter for laughs, touching moments and a satisfying theatre experience you won’t forget.” The cast features Colton Apodaca, Lisa M. Botuchis, Andrea Bullar, Shelby Caughron, Jake Cornell, Kyle Dowdy, Joseph Emmenegger, Holly Gillard, Keana Goldsmith, Sawyer Henderson, Elijah Howlett, Janey M. Hurley, Reden Magtira, Lisa Naudi, Emily Neifert, Joseph Prete, Briana Russavage, Broc Sargent, Anthony Simpson, S. Hayden Sproul and Sarah Thomas. Play dates are scheduled for April 28, 29, May 4, 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. and April 30, May 6 and 7 at 2 p.m. General admission is $18; seniors/staff, $15; students, $13. A preview performance is scheduled for April 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview performance are $13 for all seats. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre.
