Noonan Family Swim School

We have absolutely loved Noonan! We've been to both the Carlsbad and Linda Vista locations and had fantastic experiences at both. The instructors are so patient and make the lessons fun for children. They never make the child feel ashamed for having difficulty with a skill or feeling nervous in the pool. Highly recommend!

My kids have been at Noonan for two years. We really like the calsbad location as it's indoor and the water is very warm. My kids like their instructor Riley. He's very patient and always corrects their moves when they did wrong.

Small class size. Reasonably priced (especially in comparison to other activities in the area that are large group classes). Well trained instructors. Kid friendly. Helpful front desk. Easy parking. Convenient location.

My kids (2 years and 6 years) have been swimming here since the summer, and they've loved every minute of it! My son has progressed from not knowing how to swim to learning the dolphin kick! My daughter has gone from never wanting to go into the pool to now she's jumping and diving into the water. One of the best things is the basic techniques they teach the kids right away is how to get out of the pool if you accidentally fall in and can't swim. Also if you are swimming in the deep and you get exhausted.
The turnover of the instructors is high as expected but they are good, especially Mr. Jay. We've been lucky to have him for my son and now a spot opened up and he is teaching my daughter. She's gone through so many in a matter of months so I'm glad she has Mr. Jay now. He is the most popular amongst the instructors and there is a waitlist for the classes he teaches. He's very good with all the kids and is one of the few that have remained.
All around the school and instructors are good. I do highly recommend.

My son goes here for three years now. Mr. J is such a great man patient and amazing teacher.
We just signed up for it to your salt to this School. Just because we're so happy. I totally recommend this swimming school.

Non-Transparent Policy - I had inquired about Noonan on the phone and had explained that we were very interested in finding a good fit for both my children's skill level and teacher-student relationship. So they had offered a "trial class"" - had an okay first class, but it was too basic for my children so we decided to not enroll and enroll in another local swim class.

BEWARE - what they didn't tell you is that their trial classes cost the same as a class and they auto-register your child for recurrent classes (despite emailing them that we were not enrolling). My children are all in MULTIPLE activities across San Diego, and never once do people offer a trial class only to CHARGE you if you decline automatic enrollment. Very sneaky policy - will never recommend to anyone as "finding the right fit" for your child is definitely not their top priority.

We've been coming here for a year and even had our daughters' birthday party here in June. Our kids had to start at a lower level than what they were originally from the other swim school, but they were able to prove themselves and climb their way up back to the levels they belong.

My kids are now swimming at the same level, Level Yellow 2 and every few weeks, they're tested on their skills, like clockwork, no questions asked. I like that we're not constantly having to remind the teachers that it's time for them to get tested or that they need to move up.

The showers nearby to rinse off are convenient, the changing rooms has stalls that we can easily change our kids in and there's a separation room from the swimming pool for parents to watch through the windows.

We've been very happy with this swim school so far and can't wait to see what new swim skills our kids learn next.

My daughter has been coming to this school once a week for a year and she had learned a lot and advanced her swim skills tremendously since we started. When we started, my daughter didn't even like water to touch her face. Nowadays my five year old can swim laps on a swim lane and feel confident and happy to be in the water. My only qualm is their high turnover rate for teachers. However, the teachers we have encountered were always friendly, patient and skillful. The environment was always pleasant, welcoming and friendly. And the staff on site are always available to answer any question, rebook missed classes, etc. On top of that they offer military discount for families. We will keep coming here until my daughter finishes the green level.

We love this swim school. We have been attending lessons weekly for over a year. My 4 year old has been in group and individual lessons. He is already learning free style and breast stroke. His instructor, Sheri, has worked so well with him and uses a reward system that helps him succeed. My 2 year old daughter started in the Splash Babies classes and has graduated to swimming without Mommy. She adore her instructor, Kayla, and cheers when we drive in the parking lot.

I have also found scheduling to be easy with Lauren and Emma behind the counter. Both on the phone and via email, I get quick responses. When we need a make-up class they have always accommodated our schedule.

We love Noonan Family Swim School!

I absolutely love this swim school. My daughter learned so much better here than any other school. My biggest complaint though was having very limited time slots. This also made it impossible to reschedule makeup classes. I have a job that is variable days/times so it was really hard to make the it work. For example one day they would only be available at 11, and then in the next week they would only be available on Saturday at 4:30, or at Tuesday at 3. Those are my three options, and that was it. So unfortunately it was very difficult to make it work.
