Recently had a large group for a wonderful happy hour. The staff was very adaptive and attentive and some of the best service I've seen in a long time.
We had a big group and they rose to the occasion.
We were fortunate enough to between set up and the event the to meet the owners and they were so gracious and kind.
Robert the GM, Roxanne the bar manger and our new favorite server Sarah.
Great service, great food and such a great time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason M.Oceanside, CA3436662Apr 14, 2024
OK food. Not great food. Had the seafood
Pasta -GF and it was Meh. Octopus app was pretty good. Not over cooked rubber. Pizza not bad but all my friends ordered pepperoni like they were 8 years olds so I did not experience anything other than that. Not horrible though but nothing to come back for.
Prosciutto and burrata were nice, burrata was not something that was bought from some supplier just to have the item on the menu. It did not have that vinegar flavor some cheapo stuff has and properly salted for excellent flavor.
They told us the bread was gluten free but I have my doubts it was.
I agree with others, this place seemed upscale on-line but in person it is far from that. Very noisy and weird atmosphere. Almost like a brewery meets Italian food. Odd, like something you find in a small mountain town.
Service was good!
Only two things. Not sure our waitress understood what celiac is. So my wife has been sick for 2 days. So likely will not be able to return. They claimed food was GF but we were not sure it really was. She has never been so sick.
Tiramisu- meh. Not the best in the world. Lacked in flavor. Especially that intense espresso flavor. Not sweet enough nor bitter enough. Lacked in creamy texture, More of an aerated cream. Not a
Denser but light mascarpone. It came together as just ok. Needs work for me.
Other than that a very good Italian experience in Oceanside.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Romain B.San Francisco, CA61422Apr 5, 2024
Went during Ironman weekend on a Friday and it was crazy busy. We were super lucky to have made a reservation the night before and got seated within 15 minutes. Even though there was a huge crowd of people, the staff was very nice and checked on us many times throughout our quick dinner.
The carbonara pizza was excellent. The dough was perfectly doughy and crunchy. The Parmesan fries were okay. A little bland and nothing impressive. And the cozze scoppiate is a must have if you like eating mussels.
Overall, nice place to watch a game, enjoy some drinks, and eat some delicious pizza.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 6, 2024
We came in on a busy weekend night, and got seated in the overflow section, which honestly just seemed like a large storage room in the back of the restaurant, so already the ambience in relation to the higher prices for a supposedly more upscale Italian restaurant were at odds.
Ordered two dishes: the braised beef in red wine sauce, which turned out somewhat inedible because the texture more resembled meatloaf and lacked that rich stew flavor. Fortunately, they did allow us to send the dish back (somewhat reluctantly - mind you, this is the first time I've ever actually sent a dish back!), and took that off the bill.
Next up was the grilled octopus, which was a solid 4 stars. This was a good octopus - good, but not great.
Overall, I would rate this restaurant between 3-4 stars. Maybe we should've ordered the pizza (which appears to be their specialty), instead of the entrees.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 6528861Feb 2, 2024
My wife and I met the owner of the restaurant Kim, at dinner at another restaurant and he invited us to come and enjoy a free dessert if we ever stopped by. First coming in we were greeted by the hostess and they took us straight to our table. The overall restaurant has an overall homie vibe. There was an outdoor patio, back side seating area and inside bar sitting area.
There were TVs and the clippers game was on, so I was enjoying the vibe. We decided to do a pasta which my wife chose which was a seafood spaghetti, which came out pipping hot at the same time with the pizza which was the Gorgonzola pizza which I really enjoyed with the blue cheese. Our appetizer the calamari was not too battery and the marinara was delicious, it had little cut onions in there which made it flavorful.
About half way through dinner Kim stopped by and asked if we been here before, and I mentioned we met last time at dinner which he did say he did remember us. He checked to see if we still had the card he gave us which offered the free dessert which was a tiramisu. I said sure did, he said make sure your waiter sees the card and we'll get you that dessert. Kim is super nice and as the dinner rush came in and got busier he was walking around greeting everyone and checking in with everyone, to me that shows an owner is dedicated to his work and wants to make sure everyone who eats there feels like family. He explains to everyone the ingredients he gets comes directly from Italy and going there myself I can feel the authenticity.
Thanks Kim again for the hospitality and the remembrance of my trip to Italy of delicious food which I can taste locally now thanks to your restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pamela B.Costa Mesa, CA105143Mar 30, 2024Updated review
Sadly way I'll say that something happens to this restaurant. I went there many times and I didn't have no disappointment but I cannot say that from my last visited .

Last night was my second experience at Blade 1936. It was a birthday celebration last night, and great Italian food was the request. Our reservation was for 7:00; we arrived a little early to park and were seated immediately. I very much appreciate that given the special occasion and it was packed with not a table or bar stool open.
As was my first experience, Chef Angelo and the kitchen nailed it! We had Ravioli Di Carne Salsa Di Formaggi with a side of meatballs and Penne Arrabiata. Both were perfectly prepared with a great presentation. The birthday girl enjoyed a Cactus di Campagna, which I tried, and it was delicious.
My only detraction was the service at the table; both in my reservation (online) and when we sat, I mentioned it was a birthday celebration. Our server did not trouble herself to wish her a happy birthday, and her general attitude was poor. While we declined dessert (Handel's was another request), the complimentary birthday dessert that a table near us received would have been a classy move. I would mention how the food was delivered to the table. There was little care putting it in front of us and seemed rushed. I want to be fair; it was a busy night, but I found this out of character from my previous experience. Nothing, some attention and training can easily correct.
Notwithstanding the service piece, this is a beautifully appointed restaurant with a best-in-class Chef and kitchen staff. Excellent food and drink, I plan on dining here again to try their pizza. As we left Chef Angelo was by the kitchen, and we got to say hello. Classy move by the Chef.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Jeff
Thanks for the nice review. We can only get better when our patrons tell us how we are doing good or bad. I was off last night. Had I’d been there I would have been to your table and known the circumstances and without a doubt a birthday dessert with candle would have arrived at your table. Please accept my apologies for our slips in delivering top notch service. My staff and I appreciate your business and we will do better next time. Next time ask for me (Kim) and I assure you your experience will be vastly improved

Food, Service, and Ambiance was so awesome. Our server Shawn was great and we got to meet the chef Angelo (super charismatic guy). The food is amazing, I wouldn't change a thing. Is a must try!
